The University of Adelaide’s North Terrace campus is located in the historic cultural precinct, on the northern boundary of Adelaide’s city centre. Within easy walking distance are the Botanic Gardens, world class cafes and restaurants, and numerous other attractions. Conference participants are encouraged to look at the Visit South Australia website, to learn more about what Adelaide, and its surrounds, have to offer.
Early December is a very busy time of year in Adelaide, with lots of other major events going on. Conference participants are therefore strongly encouraged to secure their accommodation as early as possible, to avoid disappointment.
The conference convenors have negotiated reduced rates for conference participants at the following local hotels, residential colleges, and other accommodations - all of which are within easy walking distance of the conference venue. Unfortunately, the conference convenors are unable to offer assistance with booking accommodation for any participants.
You need to mention 'Anthropology Conference 2017 - Shifting States’ when approaching any of the following providers, to receive your accommodation at the following discounted rates.
Please note that all these accommodation options are marked on the conference map.

The search engine solution
Needless to say, you can simply google “budget accommodation Adelaide” or “luxury villa rent Adelaide” and see what turns up.
If you are thinking of renting a place for the week, where you can do your own cooking and may-be share the costs
with colleagues/family, look at the “Vacation rentals” section on Tripadvisor,
search www.airbnb.com, and read the advice and use the search engines on
the accommodation section of the site.
For those who want to meet locals, yet keep their costs to an absolute minimum, we recommend looking at couch-surfing sites:
